Barbora Janáková

The first book published as a result of our project is out. The main topic of the volume is elites in East-Central and South-East Europe in the 19th century and their gregarious tendencies. Sixteen authors contributed altogether, including five members of our team. Judit Pál, Vlad Popovici and Oana Sorescu-Iudean wrote the foreword titled Elites and Groups in East-Central and South-East Europe in the Long Nineteenth Century. Klára Hulíková Tesárková, Martin Klečacký, and Alice Velková focused on civil servants in their study The Rise of Administrative Elites. The Influence of Social Background and Nationality on Attaining the Position of District Captain in Bohemia in 1875 and 1910. Judit Pál and Vlad Popovici examined Hungarian lower chamber deputies and their background in the chapter Family Relations and Parliamentary Elections in Transylvania and Eastern Hungary (1867–1918). You can see detail here.
