On what foundations did modern European societies grow? Who were the people who fundamentally directed and influenced the development of these societies? How did the position and selection of elites change in different regimes? Finding answers to these questions is the focus of the project Social mobility of elites in the Central European regions (1861–1926). By using a combination of methods from both the humanities and the natural sciences, the project allows us to explore the direct link between the careers of chosen individuals and their family ties for the first time.
However, this website contains not only information about the project. It aims to create a platform that will serve general public or scholars who want to know more about this topic. In the Read more section you can find out how to proceed if you want to reconstruct the family or social ties of the people you are interested in. At the same time, we want to inform you about other projects, events or publications related to the study of elites or social mobility. If you would like to share your research with us, or if any of your ancestors were among the persons included in our project, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@elitesresearch.com.
